You know, ever since we left church my husband has wanted to meet with the pastor to tell him how we feel. But I have always just said it wouldn't be worth the energy, for exactly the reason you stated: anything he disagreed with would only be perceived as either a)coming from an unhealthy person or b)persecution by the "enemy". You can't win when people are convinced they are right. Sometimes it's healthy and provides closure to share our feelings with someone who has hurt us, for our own peace of mind. But I've told my husband it would be a cold day in hell when our opinions and experiences actually mattered, even just long enough for someone to think about them for a moment without immediately discarding them.

I had to read some Dutch Sheets for ministry...sigh, so I know what you're talking about there. I absolutely agree with you about voting for your own values and not what anyone tells you is "God's will".
